After the liberation of Kuwait, it became imperative that the
air defence force become operational at the earliest possible moment.
Thus an emergency plan was formulated to restore the Ahmed Al Jaber Base which had been badly damaged by the enemy.
This involved the construction of a large number of steel buildings, including the hangar for F18 fighter aircraft parts, administration buildings, refuelling facilities and new taxiways and aprons for aircraft parking.
