Gulf Consult was appointed by M.A. Kharafi Construction to
provide design & supervision for this turn-key for MPW.
Gulf Consult engaged MWH to assist as a sub- consultant for the specialist design and construction management of the sanitary components: sewers, pumps and related facilities.
The project involves the replacement of a series of 30 sewage pump stations in the area bounded by 4th Ring Road and the Gulf by a single 40m deep pump station at Riggae.
The new pump station will handle 778,000 cu.m per day, with facilities for grit removal, odour control, instrumentation and telemetry.

In conjunction with the new pump station, a new interceptor sewer of diameter up to 2250mm is to be constructed to collect sewage from the redundant pump stations.
The interceptor will be constructed using micro-tunneling at depths of up to 35m with 40km of such tunnels.
Vortex-type manholes will be installed at pipe junctions at different levels.
