American Concrete Institute -Kuwait Chapter’s Awards Banquet is a highly anticipated and grand annual event during which the Chapter recognizes outstanding projects and individuals.

The event was held on April 28th 2019, and was attended by the president of ACI Kuwait Chapter, Dr. Saud Al Otaibi; her excellency the minister of Public Works Dr. Jenan Busheri; his excellency DR. Hamed Al-Azmi the Minister of Education; and many other distinguished guests.

Several awards were presented that evening, one was The Award of Excellence, the other award was The Award of Achievement, and two certificates of appreciation were given to long serving ACI board members.

American Concrete Institute -Kuwait Chapter is non-profit organization, established in 1997 whose mission is to develop and share technical knowledge and information for improving the quality of concrete construction and practices in Kuwait. ACI- Kuwait chapter operates under the Kuwait Society of Engineers.

The Award of Excellence is given to a significant and deserving project that has been substantially completed over the period 1ST January, 2017 to 31STDecember, 2018. The award recognized

  • Outstanding and creative concrete usage
  • Innovative architectural and structural design
  • Commendable response to cultural considerations and traditions
  • Architectural landmarks and iconic structures
  • High standards of construction
  • Renewal and renovation projects
  • Public appreciation of a project

The Award of Excellence was awarded to The Ministry of Education Headquarters as a distinctive and elegant architectural landmark that combines advanced structural and engineering solutions with graceful aesthetics. The award was presented to the Project’s developer The Ministry of Public Works in behalf of the Ministry of Education (the end user). CambridgeSeven in association with Gulf Consult were the consultants commissioned to Design, Engineer, and Supervise construction of the project which will hold 3,500 employees.

The Award of Achievement was given to Ms. Suad Al Bahar for her lifelong contribution, as an outstanding scientific researcher in the field of concrete quality, materials, and construction technology. The Certificated of Appreciation were presented to Dr. Khaldoun Rahal and Mr. Abdul Wahat Rumani.
